Chef Ferrell Alvarez at Dang Dude, Sparkman Wharf Tampa

Dang Dude opened at Sparkman Wharf in March 2022 — a concept built around the bold, communal energy of Asian street food. The kind of food you eat standing up, share without thinking, and come back for.

The concept grew from a simple obsession: the flavors of Asian street markets — dumplings, bao buns, double-fried wings, noodles — reimagined with fresh Tampa ingredients and the same commitment to craft that runs through every Proper House Group kitchen.

Chef Ferrell Alvarez — James Beard Best Chef South semi-finalist and the culinary mind behind Rooster & the Till — leads the food philosophy at Dang Dude. His approach: use house-made vegan fish sauce and gluten-free noodles and wrappers wherever possible, and never compromise on flavor to do it.

Dang Dude is part of Proper House Group, the Tampa-based hospitality team behind Rooster & the Till (Michelin Bib Gourmand 2022–2025), Ash, Alter Ego, and Gallito.
